Configure project hierarchy in 'My Organization'

Overview

Only users with Agile Hive Administrator permission are allowed to configure the SAFe® hierarchy set in ‘My Organization’ of Agile Hive - all other users cannot access features to edit the hierarchy. For the first step, it is possible to add a Jira project on any of the SAFe® layers and proceed with the configuration from there.

Supported SAFe® configurations:

  • Full SAFe®

  • Portfolio SAFe®

  • Large Solution SAFe®

  • Essential SAFe®

Each SAFe® organizational entity in the hierarchy is represented by a single Jira project. For recommendations and limitations regarding Jira project creation and configuration, see Configure Jira Projects For Use With Agile Hive.

Configuring ‘My Organization’

My Organization supports the following interactions and features:

  • Add a Jira project on any layer by pressing the ‘+' button in that layer’s frame.

  • Hover over a Jira project already added to the canvas to add connected Jira projects (parent Jira project, child Jira projects).

  • Drag and drop a Jira project onto another Jira project in order to quickly change hierarchical connections between two (e.g., assign a new parent Jira project).

Moving Jira projects in ‘My Organization’

NOTE: Changing hierarchical links between Jira projects may cause hierarchical issue links within the selected Jira project’s previous structure to become invalid. Also, this may have a negative impact on PIs and Iterations that this Jira project (and its children) have been/are part of.

Further options for Jira projects in ‘My Organization’

NOTE: Changing hierarchical links between Jira projects may cause hierarchical issue links within the selected Jira project’s previous structure to become invalid. Also, this may have a negative impact on PIs and Iterations that this Jira project (and its children) have been/are part of.

Click on a Jira project already added to the canvas to access additional operations:

  • Detach Jira project from parent: Remove the hierarchical link to the selected Jira project's parent project(s) in order to either keep it as a separate part of the SAFe® hierarchy or assign a new Jira parent project.

  • Remove Jira project from hierarchy: Completely removes the Jira project and all of its children from the SAFe® hierarchy. The Jira project and its children can be added to the hierarchy again at a later point.
